    Spring 2010 Curriculum:

    • Reading: Egyptian Unit (Tut Tut, Egypt Game, The Curse of King Tut's Mummy, Mummies in the Morning), Biography ( I Have a Dream The Story Of Martin Luther King by Margaret Davidson)
    • Writing: Writing Workshop: process writing, personal narrative, letter writing, factual and imaginative stories, and publishing
    • Composition: sentence and paragraph structure
    • Grammar: nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns
    • Math: A.D.D. Math(Arithmetic Developed Daily), addition and subtraction with regrouping, multiplication and division, place value in whole numbers and decimals, fraction, and measurement and data
    • Science: Life in and around the earth's oceans; Electricity: static vs. current electron movement, insulators vs. conductors, circuits; Individual Science Fair Projects: report, poster and display; Use of temperature and light sensors in Robolab and programming Lego vehicle using a sensor as a 'modifier;' construction and programming of a Lego 'snail' using gear trains and program to slow its pace; creatures living in and around the earth's oceans: producing a flip book depicting vertebrate(s) and invertebrate(s) in their habitat; food web
    • Physical Education: Spring units: Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, Cooperative Games, and Fitness Activities
    • General Music: Rhythm activities, vocal skills: sight-singing and expressive qualities, elements of rhythm and notation, introduction to soprano recorder, and concert preparation
    • Art: Spring term: Comic strip making, self-portrait in clay, Georgia O'keefe unit: study of flowers (drawing and painting), complementary colors, hieroglyphic (or other Egypt-related) unit
